Provides emergent readers with practice in beginning reading and writing skills while reinforcing basic vocabulary. Short and long vowel patterns are presented systematically within the context of short texts and are practiced through a variety of activities and games. All vocabulary is taught explicitly and is presented visually (in pictures), in writing and orally (on a CD). The recorded texts provide emergent readers with audio support as they practice decoding skills.
